Aerodrome and Velodrome Merge Launches Aero DEX Across Seven Networks
Aerodrome and Velodrome completed their merger on October 21, 2026, to launch Aero, a unified spot DEX live on seven chains including Ethereum, Base and Arbitrum.
Aerodrome and Velodrome merge completed on October 21, 2026, at 8:00 PM ET, creating Aero, a single onchain spot decentralized exchange developed by Dromos Labs under CEO Alex Cutler. The platform went live across seven networks that together processed roughly 120 billion dollars in monthly DEX volume.
Aerodrome and Velodrome Merge Mechanics and Token Migration
The merger combined two ve(3,3)-style protocols that previously dominated trading on Base and OP Mainnet. Aerodrome captured about 58 percent of Base DEX volume in the third quarter of 2026, while Velodrome held around 60 percent on OP Mainnet. Over their lifetimes the two platforms distributed roughly 580 million dollars in revenue to token holders.
Token migration follows fixed ratios: existing AERO converts one-to-one into new AERO, and one VELO converts to approximately 0.044 new AERO. Aerodrome holders receive 94.5 percent of the new supply and Velodrome holders receive 5.5 percent, mirroring the prior 52-week revenue split. veAERO and veVELO positions convert to sAERO. Migration occurs through manual portals at aerodrome.finance and velodrome.finance; centralized exchanges manage custodial balances separately. No new token sale or venture allocation accompanied the launch.
Revenue Distribution and Product Features
One hundred percent of exchange revenue flows to sAERO stakers from day one. The prior weekly voting system has been replaced by Predictive Allocation, allowing stakers to direct liquidity incentives toward markets they expect to generate high fees. Additional tools include Metaswaps for cross-chain routing, Slipstream V3 with dynamic fees and MEV capture on supported L2s, and optional Autopilot automation for liquidity management.

The seven live networks are Ethereum mainnet, Base, Robinhood Chain, Ink, OP Mainnet, Arc and Arbitrum. The combined volume base gives Aero immediate scale in bitcoin-dollar pairs, stablecoin FX and tokenized stock trading. First Predictive Allocation round opened at noon ET on October 22.
Expansion Plans After the Aerodrome and Velodrome Merge
The merger was first announced in November 2025 and originally targeted for the second quarter of 2026 before final audits pushed the date to October. Dromos Labs stated the goal of at least doubling Aero’s share of onchain spot volume by the end of 2026. An integration toolkit for wallets and AI agents is scheduled for release in the coming months.
Liquidity and token migration remain open with no announced hard deadline. The platform will continue to focus on markets where onchain execution can compete directly with centralized venues in speed and cost.
